Laser marking of glass and ceramics
LASER LABELLING OF GLASS AND CERAMICS
Whether it is beer, wine or champagne glasses, coffee cups, glass models or trophies, engraving on glass looks classic and give an impression of something special. Glass engravings can be produced with a variety of processes. The sandblasting method has been by far the most common one up to now. However, branding using laser is the next stage for glass engraving.

The frosted effect, which is produced with the CO2 laser, enables filigree details and very sharp and precise images, logos and lettering to be created. There is no longer any need for the application of templates and foils. Images, lettering and logos can be quickly and flexibly processed and modified. The workload is therefore reduced immensely. The glass is only superficially cut into by the laser using the CO2 laser. This contactless processing leads to a reduction of the tension in the glass compared with traditional processes, and therefore less or no glass breakage. No dirt or dust is produced by this laser engraving which is gentle on the material, and no cleaning is therefore required. Laser engraving on glass is used in the catering and household sectors in particular, as well as for special occasions in the sport and events field. Laser engraving is also suitable in interior design, for example on mirrors, or for glass cabinets in shops. Engraved glasses are also becoming increasingly popular as advertising materials.

Clay, an inorganic, non-metallic material, is also ideal for laser labelling. Whether it is crockery, tiles, figurines, ornaments, components, general parts or trim elements, the CO2 laser enables precise, durable and high-quality laser labelling without exerting pressure on the ceramic structure. Breaks or cracks in porcelain, for example, are therefore a thing of the past, along with wear on tools. Different contrasts can thereby be achieved depending on the setting of the laser output. The individual options in particular, which can be created and varied without great effort, open up the opportunity for efficient, time-saving branding. Whether it is lettering, logos, models, QR codes or even ornaments. The CO2 laser applies this cleanly and with reproducible accuracy.
